SIM Swap is the use of a number or SIM card taken over (hacked) without the consent of the victim. After the number has been hijacked, it will then be used to access the victim's banking account.

HOW DOES SIM SWAPPING WORK:
1. The perpetrator first acquires the victim's information.
2. Then, the perpetrator goes to the mobile operator to replace the victim's information/SIM card with the excuse that the SIM card is broken and needs replacing.
3. After verifying the identity, the mobile operator will issue a replacement SIM card with the same number and deactivate the active SIM card.
4. After the SIM card is replaced, the perpetrator then conducts financial transactions, usually using a credit card.
5. Then the issuing bank will send an OTP (One Time Password) to the perpetrator's SIM card number.
6. The perpetrator will receive the SMS as the SIM card number has been hijacked
7. The transaction will be considered valid without the victim's knowledge and the victim will realize after receiving the bill/billing statement.

TIPS TO AVOID SIM SWAP
1. Be vigilant for any form of offer. Never inform your Panin Credit Card number, validity period and three numbers behind your Panin Credit Card to any party, including those who claim to be PaninBank employees.
2. If your cell phone SIM card is suddenly inactive, report it immediately to your cellular operator.
3. When you conduct transactions on the internet, make sure the site/website you are visiting is safe.
4. Make sure you are using a secure Wi-Fi connection when transacting with your Panin Credit Card.
5. Do not share your cell phone number or email used for your Panin Credit Card transaction on social media.
6. Do not answer unknown calls/SMS asking for your Panin Credit Card number or cell phone number.
7. Immediately contact CallPanin 1500678 if your credit card information and cell phone data are known to other parties.
