Beware in the Use of Internet Banking and Mobile Banking
Malware in the Browser is a technique of breaking into internet banking and Mobile Banking accounts by utilizing malicious software (malware) that has infected the customer's internet browser. The malware can do several things according to the wishes of the creator, for example:
- Steal the customer's user ID and password,
- Take over the customer's connection to the bank and enter book-entry / transfer transactions from the customer's account to the perpetrator's account, and
- Changing the web page in the customer's browser according to the wishes of the perpetrator.
Things you can do to minimize the dangers of Malware in the Browser include:
- Use a personal computer and a trusted network to access internet banking services. Avoid using public computers, such as in internet cafes, and/or untrusted networks, such as wifi access points provided by cafes or shops in shopping centers.
- Equip personal computers with up-to-date anti-virus. Avoid accessing and/or downloading files from untrusted web addresses.
- Beware of unreasonable requests for information, such as requests to enter token codes through pop up screens.
- Contact the bank's official call center if there is a notification from the bank regarding activity on the account while the customer has never done so.
